International Building Code Section 706.1 is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 706.1 General. Fire walls shall be constructed in accordance with Sections 706.2 through 706.11. The extent and location of such fire walls shall provide a complete separation. Where a fire wall separates occupancies that are required to be separated by a fire barrier wall, the most restrictive requirements of each separation shall apply.

When fire walls are provided, automatic sprinkler and fire alarm systems must be zoned to coincide with fire walls. Reference Sections 903.3.9 and 907.6.4.
